Count furniture, protect records, and plan loading access before the cleanout date. The fastest way to prepare is to make the load, access path, and restricted material easy to identify before anyone arrives.
List by room and item type
Count desks, chairs, shelving, cabinets, boxed contents, electronics, and break-room items. Note what stays so the crew can distinguish it quickly.
Handle data before removal day
Remove sensitive paper and wipe devices under your organization’s data policy. A general junk pickup is not a records-destruction service unless that service is expressly arranged.
Reserve the access path
Confirm loading-dock, freight-elevator, parking, and building-hour rules. Share the contact for anyone who controls access on pickup day.
Quick handoff checklist
- Photograph the full load for scale.
- Count bulky items and identify dense material.
- Note stairs, gates, elevators, and parking.
- Keep hazardous or unknown material separate.
- Confirm what stays before the crew starts.
